Teardown of the famous Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse located at 3767 Las Vegas Boulevard South
Las Vegas Demolition and Environmental Services, LLC.® (LVD) is a key part in helping change the face of the iconic Las Vegas Strip. One of our newly completed demolitions was to take down the old Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse building. They closed the location North of Las Vegas Blvd and Park Ave in May of 2017 after 19 years at that location. It was recently announced that the steakhouse will move into a two-story space at the Grand Canal Shoppes.
When considering all the options in tearing down the now closed Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse, LVD co-owners Joe and Sal Catania knew special care would be needed to demo the 30,000-square-foot structure that has been there since 1998.

Two major safety concerns stand out on this project. Las Vegas Boulevard’s heavy pedestrian traffic, and the building’s proximity to the south side of the Showcase Mall, which would remain fully operational throughout all phases of demolition. Only a 2-to-3-foot gap existed between the closed restaurant and the busy shopping center. Talk about tight quarters! The project went smoothly. A new Target and Burlington will be put in its place.
